What to Expect at Your First CryoLift Facial: Quick Prep & Aftercare
By 4 Elements Wellness Center | August 28, 2026
Downtown Princeton (Palmer Square), adjacent to the Princeton University campus
A lot of first-timers tell us the same thing: it’s a relief to walk in, exhale, and feel taken care of right away. If you’re nervous about your first CryoLift Facial, that’s normal. New facial technology can sound intimidating until you realize how straightforward it is.
A CryoLift Facial is a short, non-invasive cold-therapy facial designed to tone and rejuvenate the skin. You’ll come in, we’ll do a quick consult, cleanse your skin (we can remove any remaining makeup), complete the cooling portion of the facial, then go over simple aftercare. Most people describe the feeling as cold and tingly, not painful. And you can usually get right back to your day in Princeton.
Your CryoLift Facial prep checklist (48–72 hours makes a difference)
If you want the easiest first appointment, do two things: show up a few minutes early and keep your skincare gentle leading up to your visit.
Bring: a photo ID, and arrive with clean skin if possible. If you’re coming from work, class, or a Palmer Square stop, don’t stress. We’ll cleanse and remove any remaining makeup.
- Pause strong actives for 48–72 hours before your CryoLift Facial. That includes retinoids and strong acids.
- Skip heavy exfoliation for about a week beforehand. Think scrubs, aggressive peels, and anything that leaves you feeling raw.
- Tell us what’s going on with your skin during your consult. Dry patches, recent irritation, and what products you’re currently using all matter.
- Disclose cold sensitivity, pregnancy, or recent facial injections so we can guide you safely.
A lot of our regulars love CryoLift because it’s relaxing and results-driven. One client called it a “game changer” and said their skin looked “immediately more youthful, tighter and has the most beautiful glow.” That’s exactly why prep matters. You want your skin calm, not already stressed.
Inside the 60-minute CryoLift Facial: what we do, step by step
Our CryoLift Facial is booked as a 60-minute appointment. If you’re coming in before a campus event or a McCarter Theatre show, it’s a clean, contained block of time that doesn’t take over your whole day.
1) A quick consult that keeps you comfortable
We start by talking through what you want to see in the mirror. Less puffiness. A more refreshed look. A firmer feel. Then we cover the basics that matter for cold therapy, including cold sensitivity and any recent injections. Our team is known for being warm and down-to-earth, and we keep the vibe calm. You’re never rushed through questions.
2) Cleanse and prep (no pressure if you showed up with makeup)
We’ll cleanse your skin and remove any remaining makeup so the technology can do its job evenly. If you already came in bare-faced, perfect. If you didn’t, also fine. A lot of people are squeezing this into real life.
3) The CryoLift portion (what it feels like)
This is the part most first-timers worry about, and it’s usually the easiest. You’ll feel a noticeable cooling sensation and often a light tingle. It’s not meant to hurt. We check in with you as we go, and if anything feels too intense, let us know. We’ll adjust our pace and keep you comfortable.
“Susan is THE Best! She exudes a calm energy that puts you at ease from the minute you walk in.”
one of our regulars
4) Wrap-up and aftercare, so you don’t guess at home
Before you leave, we’ll talk through what you’re seeing right away, what’s normal to feel, and what to avoid for the next couple of days so the glow lasts.
CryoLift Facial aftercare: keep the glow, skip the irritation
Right after your CryoLift Facial, most people notice their skin looks refreshed and feels tighter. You might also feel relaxed, like you just hit a reset button. We hear “recharged” a lot around here.
For the next 48 hours, keep it simple
- Hydrate inside and out. Drink water and use a gentle moisturizer.
- Protect with SPF if you’re out walking around Downtown Princeton.
- Avoid harsh exfoliants and strong actives (retinoids, strong acids) while your skin is settling.
If you’re getting ready for something specific, like pre-wedding photos or a big campus weekend, we’ll talk timing with you. For a lot of people, a CryoLift Facial is a great pre-event pick-me-up in Princeton summers when puffiness tends to show up fast.
Rebooking depends on your skin goals. Some people come in for that immediate refreshed look before events, and others come more regularly because they like the ongoing toning and texture improvements.
Princeton first-timer tips we tell people in the room (not in a sales pitch)
If you’re coming from Plainsboro, West Windsor, Kingston, South Brunswick, or Lawrence Township, we usually suggest choosing a time when you won’t feel rushed after. A CryoLift Facial is only an hour, but giving yourself a few extra minutes means you’ll actually enjoy it.
And here’s the inside tip: if you tend to hold stress in your face and jaw, say it out loud at the start. Our estheticians can focus on helping you relax during the facial, which is one reason people describe our space as peaceful and why they keep coming back.
“My skin is immediately more youthful, tighter and has the most beautiful glow.”
one of our regulars
If you’re trying this as a quick refresh before a commute to NYC or Philadelphia, keep your aftercare basic and plan on SPF. If you’re a student recovering from long study nights, it’s a great option because it doesn’t derail your schedule.
Ready for a low-stress first visit? Come in with your questions, tell us what you’re hoping to see in your skin, and we’ll take it from there. If you want to browse everything we do in one place, start with our services.
