Cryo fat aftercare: what to do the first 72 hours
By 4 Elements Wellness Center | July 29, 2026
Downtown Princeton (Palmer Square), right by the Princeton University campus

If you want the best shot at the result you came in for, keep the first 48 hours simple: skip strenuous workouts and skip heat (hot baths, saunas, long hot showers). People tell us they’re “beyond pleased with the results” when they stay consistent, and the aftercare is a big part of that. Our Cryo Fat / Cellulite Reduction, the 75-minute T-Shock Fat or Cellulite Reduction session, uses thermal shock alternating cold and heat. Your job afterward is to support circulation, reduce irritation, and let your body do its thing.
0 to 48 hours after T-Shock: keep it cool, keep it easy
Most people can go right back to their day, but the tissues we just worked need a little breathing room. Here’s what we generally recommend for the first two days.
Do this in the first 0 to 24 hours
- Drink extra water. In Princeton summers, especially during hot, humid July weather, hydration matters even more.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing over the treated area. Skip tight shapewear for now.
- Light walking is great. A few short walks can help circulation without stressing the area.
- If you’re tender, a cool compress for comfort is fine. Keep it gentle and don’t overdo the cold.
Avoid this for at least 48 hours
- Hard workouts (heavy lifting, sprints, HIIT classes). If you want movement, keep it to easy walking.
- Heat exposure: hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and long hot showers.
- Heavy sun exposure on the treated area. If you’re out in Palmer Square, keep the area covered and cool.
- Alcohol tends to dehydrate you and can make swelling feel worse. Give it a couple days.
Quick check-in: Numbness, tenderness, mild swelling, and some bruising can happen. If anything feels intense, worsening quickly, or just not right, reach out to us.
48 to 72 hours: ease back in without undoing your comfort
By day three, a lot of people feel totally normal, and some feel a surprising boost. One visitor told us they did their Cryo in the evening and had “so much energy” that they went home and knocked out chores, and that energy carried into the next day and the day after. That’s great, but we still want you to be smart.
At 48 to 72 hours, you can usually return to regular routines gradually. If you’re itching to work out, start with a moderate session, pay attention to the treated area, and keep heat exposure reasonable. If you’re still tender or a bit numb, don’t push through it.
If you treated chin or neck
Be gentle with skincare and avoid aggressive scrubbing. A recent client checked in at day five after working under the chin and neck and said they “STILL can’t believe the results” after one session, noticing tighter, smoother-looking skin. We love hearing that, and the calm, no-irritation approach helps you stay comfortable while changes develop.
The first week after cryo cellulite reduction: what’s normal, what to avoid
Your first week is mostly about consistency. Keep water intake up, keep movement light to moderate, and avoid anything that leaves the area angry or overheated. T-Shock Fat or Cellulite Reduction is non-invasive with no downtime, but “no downtime” doesn’t mean “ignore your body.”
Normal tends to look like this: a lingering numb feeling, tenderness when you press the area, mild swelling, and occasional bruising. These usually fade as the days pass. If you’re seeing steady improvement, you’re on track. And if you’re committed to body goals long-term, staying consistent across sessions matters too. We hear it all the time with body sculpting in general, including Inshape PV, when someone says they’ve been doing it and they’re “beyond pleased with the results.” Consistency is boring, but it works.
Avoid these common “oops” moments
- Don’t book a sauna, steam room, or super-hot yoga as your “reward” right away. Give it time.
- Don’t scrub, pick, or aggressively massage a tender area. If you want hands-on support, talk with us about timing first.
- Don’t ignore new, sharp, or escalating pain. We’d rather you ask a quick question than worry at home.
Products and habits that protect your results (without overcomplicating it)
You don’t need a 12-step routine. The best “products” after cryo are usually the basics: water, comfortable clothing, and a little movement.
Hydration and food
Aim for steady hydration all day. Balanced meals tend to help too. Nothing extreme, just don’t do dehydration plus alcohol plus heat and then wonder why you feel puffy.
Gentle skin care
Keep cleansers mild and avoid abrasive scrubs on a tender area for several days. If you’re treating a spot that rubs on clothing, breathable fabrics help a lot.
Lymphatic support
Some people like pairing body services with lymphatic-style care. If that’s on your mind, let us know and we’ll talk through timing based on how you’re feeling.
When to reach out to our Princeton team (and when to relax)
We’re big on being easy to talk to. People tell us they’re completely at ease here, and that they can “just show up and get pampered and get on with their day.” That’s the energy we want you to feel even after your appointment. If you’re in Princeton, Plainsboro, West Windsor, Kingston, South Brunswick, or Lawrence Township, quick follow-ups are usually simple to fit in.
Usually normal
- Mild bruising or swelling
- Tenderness when touched
- Temporary numbness
Reach out right away
- Severe pain, rapidly increasing swelling, or an area that feels hot and inflamed
- Fever or feeling sick
- Anything that makes you pause and think, “this seems off”
